Unauthorized Software Seized
Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation have seized P28.5 million worth of computers allegedly containing unauthorized software during a raid on an engineering consultancy firm in Pasig City.
The firm was identified as the Steel Systems Express Inc. with offices at the Rima Building on Kawilihan Lane corner Shaw Boulevard. NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division chief Elfren Meneses said the raid was conducted based on complaints filed by Microsoft Corp., Autodesk Inc. and Tekla Corp. Armed with search warrants issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Reynaldo Ros, NBI agents raided the establishment and confiscated 129 personal computers with unlicensed Microsoft, Autodesk and Tekla software and 73 pirated CD installers. Charges are being readied against the owners of the company, the NBI said.
