P9-M fake Vans shoes seized

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized counterfeit VANS rubber shoes worth P9.2 million in Pasay City.

Raided were two stockrooms of C. L. Gatho Footwear located at stalls S-54 & Unit B-7, Bagong Milenyo Wholesale Shopping Center on F. B. Harrison St. and at Unit Q Ley Warehouse on Russel St., one sales outlet and one stockroom of A.R. Celestino Footwear located at stall B 17-19 Alok Building, 3030 Agtarap St. and Unit 841-5, 5th Floor, Harrison Shoe Plaza, F. B. Harrison St. corner Agtarap St., all in Pasay City.

Also, NBI agents swooped down on Azzure General Merchandise located at stall A-4 also at the Alok Bldg.

Seized from said establishments were 3,069 pairs of counterfeit VANS rubber shoes.

The NBI put the establishment under surveillance and conducted test buys to confirm the evidence gathered through Orion Support Incorporated, a market research firm representing the Intellectual Property Rights of VANS Inc.

The owners of the establishments are facing charges of trademark infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293.
