P6 million worth of fake Otterbox products seized in Manila raids

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) has confiscated some P6 million worth of fake Otterbox products during operations in Quiapo, Manila last April 21.

In a report forwarded Wednesday, seized were 1,763 OtterBox phone cases, 20 LifeProof phone cases, 23 OtterBox stickers and one booklet of receipts.

These counterfeit items were seized at the S.V. Miclat Cellphone Accessories, a retail outlet reportedly owned by one Henry Co and Sandra Miclat, and located at Stall S-29, Second Floor, Manila City Plaza, Carriedo Street, Quiapo, City of Manila, and from two another stockrooms, owned by the two, at Units 501 and 506 Fifth Floor, Camaya Building, No. 657 Ronquillo Street corner P. Gomez Street, Quiapo.

The NBI-IPRD obtained the search warrants from Judge Lyliha L. Abella-Aquino of Manila Regional Trial Court, Branch 24.

Charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 were prepared against the owners of the raided establishments. PNA
