NBI seizes P7.6-M worth fake ‘Lacoste’ footwear
Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized some P7.6 million worth of fake “Lacoste” slippers during a recent operation in Pasay City, the bureau reported Friday.
In a statement, NBI Director Virgilio Mendez said members of the NBI – Intellectual Property Rights Division hauled up 5,127 pairs of fake Lacoste slippers inside Dida Chin’s retail outlet located at Stalls B1 & B2 Sherwin Building, F.B. Harrison corner Acosta Streets, and two stockrooms at Stalls B3, B4 & B5, Sherwin Building and Unit RD5, 4th Floor, 899 Shopping Mall, F.B. Harrison, all in Pasay City, last March 19.
The raids were made possible after the NBI obtained the search warrants from Judge Lyliha L. Abella-Aquino of Manila Regional Trial Court, Branch 24.
Charges of Trademark Infringement under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 are being prepared against the owner of the raided establishments. (Leonard D. Postrado)
