NBI seizes P23.8-M worth counterfeit rubber shoes in Pasay City

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized counterfeit Vans rubber shoes worth 23.8 million pesos during simultaneous raids conducted in Pasay City, the bureau reported on Monday.

Regional Director lawyer Elfren Meneses, chief of the Intellectual Property Rights Division, said the NBI agents raided on Friday Nai Pao Sports Articles Co. Ltd. And/or Ailyn Chui and/or Shie Lou with sales outlet located at Stall S 16, Bagong Milenyo Whole Sale Center, F.B. Harrison Street, Pasay City, and two stockrooms located at Unit B-31, Bagong Milenyo Whole Sale Center, F.B. Harrison Street and at Unit D3 & D4, Alok Building. No. 3030 Agtarap Street, also in Pasay City.

Simultaneously raided was Proudly Step Shoe Marketing and/or N.T. Manicat Footwear with sales outlet at Stall 25 and two stockrooms located at Unit 869, 3rd Floor, and Unit 8405, 45th Floor, all located at Harrison Shoe Plaza, F.B. Harrison corner Agtarap Streets, Pasay City.

The NBI agents seized 12,542 pair of counterfeit Vans rubber shoes from the six establishments.

The NBI agents put the establishments under surveillances and conducted test buys to confirm the evidence gathered through Orion Support Incorporated (OSI), a market research firm representing the Intellectual Property Rights of Vans.

OSI and NBI simultaneously conducted several investigative activities to determine the establishment activities.

Charges of trademark infringement and/or Unfair Competition under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293 are being prepared against the owners of the raided establishments.
