NBI agents seize P3-M fake Warner Bros. Products

The National Bureau of investigation (NBI) seized late this week some P3 million worth of fake Warner Bros. toys following a series of raids in Binondo district.

According to NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) chief Jose Justo Yap, they confiscated counterfeit Toys of Batman, Justice League and The Powerpuff Girls from the two sales outlets and two stockrooms of Blue Sunrise Toy Shop and Wamao Toys owned by a certain Michael Wang, Edwin Pollicar and Pie Tian Wang.

NBI agents said raided were Stall 1-A 38 of the 168 Shopping Mall; third floor of New Divisoria Shopping Center on Sta. Elena Street and room 48-16 of Juan Luna Street, Binondo.

Confiscated during the raids were 4,313 pieces of assorted Batman, Powerpuff Girls and Justice League toys, packaging materials and receipts and invoices.

Yap disclosed the NBI agents placed the establishment under surveillance and conducted test buys after receiving information from the market research firm Orion Support Inc.
After confirming activities, the NBI obtained a corresponding search warrant from Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 24 Executive Judge Antonio Eugenia Jr.

Yap said charges of unfair competition and trademark infringement were lodged against the owners of the raided establishments.
