Lawmen Seize P5-M Fake “Hello Kitty” Products.

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confiscated 175 million worth of fake ‘Hello Kitty’ products during a series of raids conducted in the cities of Caloocan and Malabon other day.

NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) chief Jose Justo Yap identified the raided sales outlet as the Dee Long Shin general merchandise and the factory as the SCH Bag Manufacturing.

Yap said charges of unfair competition and copyright infringement are now being readied against Yoly Sy and McQueen Yu See, owners of Dee Long Shin located at LDC Building Annex, Edsa, Bonifacio Circle,
Bonifacio District, Caloocan City and Wilson Sy and Rosa Yson owners of SCH Bag Manufacturing located at 6 Gumamela St., Araneta Village and also at 25 Engineering Road, Potrero, Malabon City’.

The IPRD chief said confiscated from the three raided establishments were 24,327 ‘Hello Kitty’ wallets, pencil cases, handkerchiefs, trolley bags, backpacks, pouch bags, pillows, pillow cases and photo albums.

Also were found 19 stacks containing an undisclosed materials, 265 silkscreen frames, three catalogs, two price lists and three high-speed sewing machines.

Yap said prior to the raids NBI agents placed the establishments under surveillance to confirm the complaint and corresponding evidence from the market research firm Orion Support Inc.

After confirming the illicit activities of the suspects, the IPRD operatives applied for and eventually obtained search warrants from assisting Judge Leonardo Leonida of the Malabon City Regional Trial Court Branch 75.
