NBI seizes P10-M fake wristwatches

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents have seized counterfeit Ben 10, Superman, Batman and Harry Potter wristwatches worth P10.6 million during simultaneous raids conducted in Quiapo, Manila.

The NBI agents raided the two stockrooms and one sales outlet of Rosezeny General Merchandise and/or Pulsearch Marketing and/or Jackie Go and/or Jerome Go and/or Lea Go at Stall No. 1, ground floor, Unit 1, second floor, and at Unit 6, sixth floor, all located in Seahorse Commercial Center, Carriedo Street, Quiapo.

The raids stemmed from the complaints lodged by DC Comics and Warner Bros.

In a report submitted to NBI Director Nestor Mantaring, the NBI teams belonging to Intellectual Property Rights Division headed by lawyer Dante Bonoan were armed with search warrants issued by Judge Antonio Eugenio of the Manila regional trial court when they conducted the operations last Thursday.

Seized from the three establishments were 15,132 pieces of assorted counterfeit Ben 10, Superman, Batman and Harry Potter wristwatches. The owners of the raided stalls face charges of trademark infringement and unfair competition under the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines or Republic Act 8293. Benjamin B. Pulta
